Plateau: Tribunal upturns Beni Lar’s victory, declares APC’s candidate winner

Lar, a fifth-term lawmaker, was elected to represent the federal constituency on the platform of the PDP during the February 25 National Assembly poll.
Justice Justice Mohammed Tukur who led the panel in his judgement on Tuesday evening hinged the nullification of Lar’s victory on the failure of her party to conduct a valid nomination of her candidacy to contest the election
The tribunal therefore declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Vincent Bulus as the rightful winner of the National Assembly poll.
Lar’s electoral loss brings to four, the number of PDP candidates whose elections had been nullified in the state by the tribunal.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has kicked against the nullification of the victory of its candidates by the elections petitions tribunal in the state.
Addressing a press conference in Jos on Tuesday, the state chairman of the PDP, Chris Hassan described the judgements of the tribunal as against the will of the people who voted for the party and its candidates during the 2023 general elections.
