Onuachu completes Trabzonspor medical

Onuachu joined Southampton in January following an £18m move from Genk but was unable to prevent their relegation from the Premier League and his only appearance this season came in the EFL Cup at Gillingham.

With Saints signing striker Ross Stewart from Sunderland and keeping Che Adams, manager Russell Martin has let Onuachu leave on a one-year loan deal.

The move was definitely a relief for Onuachu, who was pictured in all smiled when he arrived Turkey for his medicals.

The Nigerian bagged nearly a goal-a-game at Belgian side Genk, and appeared in the Champions League and Europa League, but is leaving Saints without scoring or registering an assist.

Onuachu was signed by former Saints boss Nathan Jones, but never really settled on the south coast.

The six-foot-six-inch-tall striker made 12 appearances for Southampton and will join Trabzonspor who currently sit seventh in the Turkih Super Lig.

The Turkish transfer window is open until September 15 allowing English clubs to offload surplus players before naming their 25-name squads.

Chukwueze prefers W’Cup to UCL title

AC Milan forward Samuel Chukwueze says he’d rather win one World Cup than the Champions League three times and says he already has an Italian teacher as he hopes to settle in Italy as quickly as possible.

The new Rossoneri signing who scored the last goal for Nigeria against Sa Tome on Sunday spoke about his first months with the Rossoneri during the international break.

“I already have a teacher for Italian, that’s what the coach wants so I am gradually learning and adapting to the language and everything,” he told Football fans Tribe.

When asked whether he’d prefer winning the World Cup once or the Champions League three times, the new Milan said, “I think I prefer one World Cup. Winning the World Cup would be crazy for Nigeria, I don’t think I’d sleep for three days,” he said, smiling.

“I wouldn’t even pick my coach’s calls. I will not pick up his calls for one month if we win.”

Chukwueze joined Milan from Villarreal in a permanent €20m deal this summer and has made three appearances as a substitute for the Rossoneri this season.
