The Nigerian Navy (NN) consists of two major divisions, the Commissioned And Non-commissioned Naval officers. The Commissioned Naval Officers are those responsible for the decision making, leading and training of soldiers; while the Non-commissioned Naval Officers are the subordinate officer who exercises power through a mandate or authority given to them by a higher ranking officer.
Below is the list of Nigerian Navy ranks and symbols for both commissioned and non-commissioned officers:

Below is the ranking of commissioned officers from highest to lowest;

7. Lieutenant Commander
10. Acting Sub-Lieutenant
Non-commissioned Naval officers are ranked as follow:
1. Warrant Chief Petty Officer
2. Chief Petty Officer
3. Petty Officer
4. Leading Rating
5. Able Rating
6. Ordinary Rating
It may interest you to know that the Nigerian Navy pay scales is done according to ranks of the officers, beginning from the highest rank staff to the lowest position. The NN pay slip is different from the Nigerian army salary, Custom, Airforce and Nigerian Fire service.
The amount a naval officer is paid per month is based on his/her rank. The annual salary of high-ranking commissioned officers are as follows;
- Admiral – ₦16,303,140
- Vice Admiral – ₦13,363,229
- Rear-Admiral – ₦12,038,945
- Commodore – ₦7,385,856
- Captain – ₦3,715,859
- Commander – ₦3,380,086.
